George Otis Jr., in his book The Twilight Labyrinth, asks why it seems that spiritual darkness and resistance linger over particular territories. How do we as believers in the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ engage the enemy and drive back his influence in our communities? What practical steps should we be taking to facilitate the opening of the heavens and the outpouring of God's Power and Presence for the transformation of regions and the harvest of souls? Are we not called to occupy until He comes according to Luke 19:13?

In December, 2004, God deepened our vision as intercessor-watchmen over the region. He told us it was time to raise up and train SWAT (Spiritual Warfare Advance Training) TEAMS to stand night and day in prayer over the City. Together we sought the Lord, and drawing heavily from Gwen Shaw's classic Redeeming the Land and Crosswalk by Henry Gruver, we wrote a syllabus and held a conference in March 2005. We brought together

insight and wisdom from the Grand Rapids policedepartment, Adopt-A-Block, and the military to both outline the need and clarify the vision.

General Principles:

When we read of a battle or conflict in scripture we see warfare tactics, strategies and weapons in use. As in Ezekiel 22:30

Why does the land need to be redeemed, cleansed or made righteous? The enemy gains legal ground through the following:

• Shedding of innocent blood
• Idolatry
• Broken covenants
• Contention, envy, unforgiveness
...and holding offences
• Immorality
• Occult teaching and New Age
...practices.
